Touching down on a breezy Sunday from the Netherlands, Barcelona unfolded its warm embrace. The ITQ team and I wasted no time – straight from the airport to a cozy tapas spot. Laughter, talks, and the first taste of Barcelona’s culinary wonders – the perfect prelude to what lay ahead.
Monday’s Buzz: Badges, Sessions, and Hub Hubbub
Monday dawned with the anticipation of badge collection and a lineup of intriguing sessions. The Hub, alive with the pulse of the vCommunity, became my go-to spot for networking and soaking in the collective knowledge of the tech enthusiasts around me. Sessions, ranging from futuristic AI to nifty VCF tricks, set the tone for a week of discovery.
Monday Night Fever: ITQ Tapas and Beer Extravaganza
As the sun set on Monday, the ITQ team threw a shindig – the annual Tapas and Beer event. A lively affair filled with tech banter, laughter, and the indulgence in Barcelona’s culinary delights. It wasn’t just an event; it was a precursor to the camaraderie that would define the week.
Tuesday’s Turbulence: Metro Misadventures and {CODE} Victories
Tuesday brought unexpected twists as we navigated Barcelona’s metro troubles, a hiccup in an otherwise seamless week. Determination and a dash of Barcelona charm prevailed as we made it to the {CODE} theater for a session that promised to take us deep into the waters of “VMware Cloud on AWS & Native Solutions: Scuba Diving into Uncharted Depths.”
Despite the rocky start, the {CODE} theater became a haven of triumph. The session garnered positive reception, drawing in a small yet engaged audience. The intimate gathering proved to be a goldmine of interaction as attendees actively participated. During the session, I led the audience on an immersive scuba diving journey, turning a modest crowd into an enthusiastic group of explorers.
Networking Nirvana: Tuesday Night Extravaganza
Tuesday night, the city buzzed with tech enthusiasts. The vExpert Party kicked things off – craft beers, tech gurus, and casual networking at its best. From there, seamlessly glided into a VMWare Cloud on AWS reception, and later, the Benelux party at the CDLC. Networking hit its peak, and the fun was off the charts.
Midweek Magic: Wednesday’s Expo Odyssey and Steak Soiree
Wednesday was a tech buffet. Sessions covered everything from bleeding-edge AI to practical VCF implementations. The Expo was a playground of innovation, and every booth visit felt like a mini adventure. The day wrapped up with a laid-back steak dinner – colleagues, peers, and customers sharing stories and insights over good food.
Final Countdown: Thursday’s Expo Encore and Farewell
Thursday was the homestretch, the last lap. Engaged with the vCommunity in sessions, revisited favorite Expo booths, and absorbed the final drops of knowledge. As the sun set on Barcelona, it was time to bid farewell to the Expo and gear up for the journey back home.
Homeward Bound: Reflections and New Horizons
Thursday evening marked the journey back home, not just physically but mentally, too. The suitcase carried swag, but more importantly, my mind brimmed with ideas and knowledge. Reuniting with family, I brought back not just memories of Barcelona but a renewed perspective to infuse into my professional endeavors.
